CraftBeerPi test

  • Mash Tun. Beerbrew 30 with bypass on internal controller 2,5Kw heat. Only 5L water to reduce heating time. (and overshoot temp fluctuate extra)
  • HERMS with 2Kw (Tube on right side.)
  • Sparge water in back. 2,5Kw
  • Rasperry pi 3. Craftbeerpi 2.2.
  • GUI (Graphic User Interface) on LCD monitor or command line. With Command Line (CL) is Safari browser used to control CBP.

Red is sencors. Yellow is heaters

Sensors:

  1. Wort out from HERMS.
  2. Wort from mash tun in to HERMS
  3. Water temperatur in HERMS
  4. Temperature in mash tun.
  5. Temperature in sparge water.

Heaters:

6. HERMS 2Kw
7. Mash tun 2,5Kw.
8. Sparge water 2,5Kw.

Wish:

I want to use heater in both mash tun and HERMS to rise temperature fast. And use only HERMS to maintain temperature. So if mash tun could run parallel to 1 degree below setpoint to HERMS would be perfect. (I do this manually today)

Notes

  1. Test #4. Turned on RasperryPi and waited 1 hour before I used it. Everything hang. Off and on with power to solve this.
  2. Test #6. 2 Kettles with PID did not work. It seems that both heaters tried to reach the highest setpoint.
